We are the experts in timber floor care and maintenance in Perth. Maintaining and preventative care of your floor is highly recommended and will increase the life expectancy of the coating and the floor for many years to come.
The best hint to maintaining a newer floor for longer is to adopt a ‘No Shoes’ policy. This will eliminate the possibility that outside dirt and stones are going to be walked through your house and reduces the risk of potentially scratching the floor.
It is a good idea to regularly vacuum your floor (bristles down) or sweep with an electrostatic mop as often as necessary. This removes any loose dirt or grit and will prevent scratching of the floor.
Use only a good quality floor mop and thoroughly wash new mops to remove any lint remaining from the manufacturing process.
Never use steam mops on your floor. Never wax or polish your floor.
Always use a Damp mop only, never a wet one.
For bamboo floors, a Floor cleaner made specifically should only be used.
Abrasive cleaners, steel wool or scouring powder on your floor should never be used. The use of oil soaps, wax, soap based detergents or other household products to clean the floors should not be used. Where spillages occur clean this up immediately to avoid any unnecessary damage.
Protect your entrances with a doormat used externally. This will prevent the possibility of damage from abrasive particles that are walked in onto the floor. Do not use rubber based mats as the rubber may leach into the bamboo.
To avoid scratching whilst moving your furniture, never slide or roll heavy furniture.
The use of felt floor protector pads under any heavy and movable furniture is highly recommended, this will allow furniture to be moved far more easier without the risk spoiling the floor. Be sure to keep the protector pads clean from any grit and dirt.
Do not use rubber as it may leach into the bamboo.
It is ideal to install protective mats under office chairs or castor wheels.
In high traffic areas, it is recommended to place rugs or runners.
Stiletto heals or damaged shoe soles can severely damage the floor.
Keep your animal nails trimmed, this will avoid scratches and damage to your floor.
Keep your rooms ventilated, protected from extreme sunlight and humidity to avoid distortion of fading floors.
Quickly wipe up spills with a dry cloth or dry paper towel. For sticky substances, moisten the cloth slightly. Like other flooring, Bamboo flooring can become slippery when wet. Be sure to wipe up spills immediately.
